Dismissal Procedures
Dismissal is at 3:05 p.m. Students will remain in their classrooms and will be called by dismissal group (car, walker, and then each bus).
School Zone Traffic Laws are in effect on Lake Palourde Road and Julia Street from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Also, during this time, Julia Street is ONE WAY.
Bus Riders
- Busses will begin picking up students at 3:05 p.m. at the bus gate.
- All bus riders must ride the bus assigned unless the office has a written note from the parent and prior approval has been given.
- School rules and expectations are extended to the bus. Students must obey the bus driver and be respectful at all times.
- Students should remain seated at all times on the bus. There should be no moving around or changing seats while on the bus, especially if it is in motion.
- Students should always keep arms and head inside the bus windows. Nothing should be thrown out the bus.
- If rules and expectations are not followed, students may be suspended from the bus for a period of time or permanently if the behavior is re-occurring.
Car Riders
- Parents/guardians picking up students in the afternoon should not begin lining up to pick up students prior to 2:45 p.m. The same procedures will be followed as morning drop-off.
- You will be given a car rider card for your family. Please list all students you will be picking up on the card. Please write each name BIG and with a BOLD BLACK MARKER. Additional cards may be requested from the JSA Office. Anyone providing transportation, whether he or she is a parent, grandparent, or sibling must have the proper identification card displayed in their vehicle. It is easiest to see the ID card when it is attached to the passenger side visor or window (if the window is not tinted!). This will help the line move more efficiently.
- It is your responsibility to give your “pick up” person the JSA Car Rider card.
- Car Rider students will wait in the designated spot until their name is called. Each driver will be greeted by teachers on duty.
- If your child has not exited the building on time and is not in the designated spot, the driver will need to circle back around to pick up the child. Drivers will not be able to park and wait.
Walkers
- Walkers will be released out of the cafeteria stage exit.
- Rainy Day Dismissal for Walkers: Students will not walk in the rain without an adult present. In the event of inclement weather, walkers will be considered ‘car riders.'
