Arrival Procedures

No student should arrive before 7:30 a.m. Duty teachers do not begin supervising until that time. School time is set with cell phone time which is the same for everyone. The school day begins at 7:55 a.m. All students arriving after 7:55 a.m. will be marked tardy and must be signed in by a parent/guardian in the lobby entrance.

Students will report to homeroom classes at 7:30 a.m. or upon arrival each morning for breakfast in the classroom and to take care of morning procedures in order to start class promptly at 7:55 a.m. Please make all efforts to have students at school on time each morning.

School Zone Traffic Laws are in effect on Lake Palourde Road and Julia Street from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Also, during this time, Julia Street is ONE WAY.

Bus Riders

  • All bus riders must ride the bus assigned unless the office has a written note from the parent and prior approval has been given.
  • Be on time for bus pick-up. Busses may arrive 10 minutes before or after the published time. A bus will only stop if students are in the designated bus stop area.
  • School rules and expectations are extended to the bus. Students must obey the bus driver and be respectful at all times.
  • Students should remain seated at all times on the bus. There should be no moving around or changing seats while on the bus, especially if it is in motion.
  • Students should always keep arms and head inside the bus windows. Nothing should be thrown out the bus.
  • If rules and expectations are not followed, students may be suspended from the bus for a period of time or permanently if the behavior is re-occurring.

 

 Car Riders

  • Car riders should be dropped off between 7:30-7:45 a.m. so that they have enough time to eat breakfast.
  • All parents are to stay in their vehicles in the car rider line. Car rider signs should be visible.
  • All students are to enter and exit the vehicle on the passenger side ONLY.
  • For student safety, please remain in single file. Do not pass other vehicles.
  • Be alert for children at all times.
  • Follow speed limits in the school zone.
  • Refrain from using your cell phone in line. (Louisiana Law)

Walkers

  • Walkers should arrive at school between 7:30-7:45 a.m. so that they have enough time to eat breakfast.
  • Students should walk on sidewalks whenever possible. Students should cross the street only at designated intersections by the school entrance.
  • Walkers and bike riders should proceed directly to school in the mornings and directly home upon afternoon dismissal
